Dr Petré Prins: Cape Town, South Africa; (Ph.D Geology, MBA) - I am the Managing Director of Prins & Prins. I studied geology and geochemistry at the University of Stellenbosch and spent two years doing post graduate research at the University of Cambridge, England. On my return, I was appointed senior lecturer in geology and mineralogy at the University of Stellenbosch where I taught for 12 years. I have published numerous scientific articles and received the Corstophine Medal from the Geological Society of SA, as well as the SJ Shand Medal from the University of Stellenbosch. In 1979 I completed an MBA degree and thereafter started Prins & Prins. I am the author of the “Diamond Bulletin” a quarterly newsletter and my most recently published book: “Gems & Jewellery - The South African Handbook”.
